Making a Collage on Lino

For this part of the web quest, the class should break into groups of 2-5. Your group will then create an online visual collage about a stereotype of your choice. Our example stereotype will focus on gender stereotyping, but do not feel limited to that specific genre; stereotyping can encompass all aspects of life and you should feel free to explore an area that affects you most.

Part 1. Investigate.

Browse through some of the many links we have provided below. Within the realm of gender stereotyping there are many research studies, social commentaries, and posts on the web. Be aware of the credibility of souces. Not everything on the internet is real. Not everything is real. Am I real? You tell me.

Part 2. Aquire Images

Look for any images that may correlate to the stereotype that you have chosen. You want to look for images that inspire you and possibly give you a fresh outlook on your chosen stereotype. As you acquire these images, start brainstorming ideas for what you want to do in the final project.

Part 3. Make your Collage

For this web quest, your group will be using a program called Lino. Here, you can gather your images all in one organized space, on a template that is very similar to a cork board. Everyone can pin the images they have found, collect and post ideas, interesting sidebars, and anything that will help build a solid foundation for your end goal. Think of the collage as a visual brainstorming activity.

The web address for Lino, username, and password can be found on the front page.
